The accident of Fukushima nuclear plant and YCW Japan PDF Print E-mail

Hello! I am Ayako KUBOKI (Ms.), the president of the Japan YCW.

I am involved in the YCW movement while I am working as a nurse.

We received your kind emails about our devastating earthquake. We would like to extend our hearty gratitude to all of you and also let you know that none of our members of the Japan YCW has been affected by this disaster.

As we received your encouragement, we felt stronger and saw once again that we are all internationally united under the name of YCW. The accident at the Fukushima nuclear plant occurred in Japan, but your messages have highlighted once again that the issue is not only domestic but more than common all over the world.

Since the crisis happened, we have become more aware; we had so far never seriously thought about the issue of nuclear energy and the risks it involves. Now, encouraged by your letters, we, the Japan YCW, would like to work on this issue as our own challenge to tackle.

We have also started thinking that there is something wrong in our way of life. We had so far taken it for granted that our priority should be to do what was the most “convenient”, and we used the energy sources as if they were unlimited. But now we definitely need to reflect on our own way of living and take proper action.

The Japan YCW has three groups (i.e. regions) and has just resumed activities as a "national movement" this year, in 2011. We are not well matured yet nor having full-time staff. However, we would like to treasure this strong relationship with you all over the world and, encouraged by you, we will take action, and do whatever we can.

We will stay in contact and keep you updated.

With our strong solidarity,

Ayako KUBOKI

President of Japan YCW
