International Women’s Day 2016: Reclaiming the Dignity of Young Women PDF Print E-mail

Joint Press Release of IYCW and MIJARC

altSince the creation of the human being, women are equal to men in all aspects of life in administrating this planet. As time went passing by, women have been stripped of their dignity and experienced terrible violence and slavery at home, at their work place and in society.

The current society, with its way of life and culture, has produced more inequality, forcing women to live in a more vulnerable situation globally. The United Nations as a collective political power has failed and seems to continue failing to bring change and transformation towards equality, as the effort that has been made is not really addressing the main problem but is just a mere political veneer.

As we are commemorating the International Women’s Day this year, the IYCW and MIJARC as movements of young workers and young farmers are calling to “Reclaim the dignity of Young Women” globally.

Women, as equal partners of men, have legal and political rights to contribute in renewing the life and functioning of this planet through just work for all. These rights should be guaranteed through good governance at all levels, national and international.

In reclaiming the dignity of young women workers and farmers, the IYCW and MIJARC boldly ask:

  1. All governments to take legal and political action to end violence and slavery against women; to set up specific measures and policies to protect women from any kind of acts that destroy dignity.
  2. The United Nations to seriously reform their legal and political attitude, culture and action towards social and political justice for women.
  3. All young women and men to destroy the ignorance and see the importance of gender equality and of building up collective knowledge, understanding and wisdom that enable all to contribute to social justice reclaiming dignity for all.

To save this planet, women must not be left behind; it is a collective task and responsibility for women and men right from the beginning of creation, and we should go back together to the original idea of creation.

Together we can transform this planet! Women in action!

In solidarity,

Ludovicus Mardiyono                                                                     Kummari Krishnakar

IYCW president                                                                          MIJARC president
